Non-Series registered Day Racers WELCOME - R120 Race entry

Paddlers taking part in long course races are required to be registered with Canoe South Africa through their Provincial Canoe Union.
Short Course Paddlers are not required to be registered with Canoe South Africa

2:  Race Day ONLY - R120 Per race IE Did not pay R250 Series Fee.
-Start Each Race with the E-Grade
-No Graded Prizes
-Not in Line for Series Prizes

SERIES REGISTRATION cont...
In order to Participate in the first Race of the Series - The Grading Race, You Must Enter at the Series Registration Party.

For all other series races, you can Enter the Series and the Race on the morning or the Race. Registration Closes 30 Minutes before race start.

A series registration Party will be staged on the Friday preceding the first race of series. You can register for the series at these events(R250) or the 1st race only(R120).
Series registered race fess are R60
 NON-Series registered race fees are R120.

1. Register with Canoeing South Africa (CSA)

All paddlers taking part in races longer than 10km's will need to be registered with Canoeing South Africa. For those paddlers who are already registered and Paid up through their canoeing clubs, you will continue to make use of their CSA race number.

The only way to get Registered with CSA is through a Club affiliated to the regional Canoe Union.

2. Surf Ski Proficiency Certificate

To Participate in CSA approved Surfski events you require a CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY.

The Following people are exempt from doing Surfski Proficiency:

  1. Lifesavers with an SPA
  2. Surf Ski Paddlers who have participated in 3 races of the Discovery Sunglass Hut Surf Ski Series.
  3. Surf Ski Paddlers who have Participated in any of the Following Marathon Surf Ski Races: -

    a). Scottburgh to Brighton
    b). Cape Point Challenge
    c). Dolphin Coast Challenge
    d). The Sunshine Coast Challenge - PE-EL
    e). The Peninsula Surf Ski Marathon
    f). The Mouth to Mouth

3. South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA)

All surfski's must be marked with a CSA number and identifiable as such. IE People Paddling the craft must be CSA Registered.

  • All skis must have sufficient buoyancy to be able to keep them afloat and provide support to the paddler.
  • All touring canoes and kayaks must carry safety equipment in accordance with the regulations. However, when canoes, kayaks and surf skis are involved in organised events, times trials and regular practice sessions of more than 5 skis, the organisers or members themselves decide the minimum safety requirements depending on the conditions.
  • In any other situation (i.e. less than 5 skis), a buoyancy aid and set of flares is the bare minimum that must be worn or carried.
